Hello from Trinidad!

by Rebecca on November 15, 2012

After 17 hours of sailing from Grenada, Mike and I arrived in Trinidad on Monday morning. This is our first time to this island and we look forward to exploring it over the next few weeks.

Here’s a quick simple workout that requires no equipment, just your own body weight. Complete each exercise one after the other for the time suggested (rest when needed). Rest 30 seconds and then repeat 3 more times!

  • Back step lunge and front kick (right leg) – 30 seconds
  • Back step lunge and front kick (left leg) – 30 seconds
  • 4 Push Ups / 6 Mountain Climbers – 1 minute
  • Squat with diagonal touch down / Side knee tuck – 1 minute
  • 4 diamond push ups / T-plank right/left – 1 minute
  • Squat thrust / Plank cross knee tuck (alternate left/right) – 1 minute

Hi, I found your site while looking up TRX exsercises. You have saved my sailing holidays, which have always been a form killer for me beeing trapped onboard our sailing boat for weeks. I have always ran when possible and done workouts on land, but missed out onboard. I am also curious about your diet as you seem to have lost weight since the beginning of your journey. I tend to gain because I eat while I am boared. Thank you for a reply.

      Hi Siv,
Glad you found your way here! The TRX and the Aerosling Elite have been great for using on the boat for exercise. It took me some time to get used to this new way of living. I was in really great shape before starting then put some weight on when I stopped working out 3-4 hours a day like I was doing before. I have been eating a lot healthier these days and pushing myself more during my workouts. I don’t drink a lot of alcohol these days either. During our first year of cruising, we drank far too much. Now, I drink more water and only the occasional alcoholic beverage. I feel a lot healthier and have pretty much gotten my weight back to where I started! When it comes to snacking, which I do a lot of (I eat 5-6 times a day), I try to choose healthier snacks like veggie sticks or fruit. I have been eliminating more and more junk foods which seems to have gotten easier to do!
